How To Make Money Blogging Tip #1 – Paid Traffic
Use PPC (or pay per click) advertising to drive browsers (traffic) to your amazing blog content and sell them your services and products on your blog.

Clearly, with this approach, you’ll need to a budget to start with and you’ll also need to master pay per click marketing and monitor your marketing campaign carefully (you may actually lose your shirt with this method (which again, if you’re at the beach, is ok, but most of us would rather not suffer the embarrassment of going shirtless for too long..)

This is not an easy skill to develop and not what I would recommend to beginners asking me how to make money blogging but is the fastest way of getting lots of exposure for your blog in a short time and, assuming you have are able to monetize that traffic with an appropriate sales conversion strategy, a great way of scaling your business fast (but again, also embarrassing personal exposure if you lose your shirt so be cautious!).

How To Make Money Blogging Tip #2 – Big Companies Approach you with Money

Believe it or not, if you’ve been a hardworking blogger and worked your fingers to the bone blogging your heart out and drummed up some serious blogging action, you may actually be approached by a company wishing to pay you money to advertise on your blog… if you already have a lot of traffic coming to your blog, and particularly if you have a fun, entertaining, and/or engaging writing style or have found other ways to be ‘magnetic’ and encourage people to return to your blog. Traffic begets traffic – that’s just a fancy way of saying that the more traffic you get, over time the more the search engines like Google take notice of your blog and consider it a ‘big deal’…. your site ranks higher in the search engines, and therefore gets found by more people and voila, more traffic.

So, assuming they’re in the same niche or industry, a big company may want to tap into all your raving fans coming to your blog to sell their stuff too. Of all 4 tips I’m sharing on how to make money blogging, this is by far the most flattering AND it requires no extra time on your part and actually provides you with residual income since you will be invariably be paid monthly for showing the company’s ads on your site.

It could be a good amount of money too – if you have serious traffic, don’t be shy about asking for a good amount of money – as long as the company is making a good profit, they will probably be quite happy to pay you for a long time to come. Hasn’t happened to me yet but I’ve seen lots of this kind of advertising particularly more recently.. (with PVR & Netflix etc, no-one watches TV commercials much anymore, or at least pays attention … if you do, stop that..:))

The Google Adsense program is another way to monetize your blog… this involves setting up a Google Adsense account on your blog (very straightforward, just Google it) and placing a widget on your site – Google will then populate that space on your blog dynamically with ads by other advertisers which should closely match the subject-matter of a particular piece of content on your blog. This is of course another example of passive income which is another easy income stream. You may of course dislike the appearance of your blog when random ads are displayed on it and choose not to make money blogging this way (as I have). Remember though that it’s up to you where on your blog the advertising is displayed so you can be selective as to where the ads appear.

How to Make Money Blogging Tip #4 – Set up a donations page

Set up a donations page – this can be set up quite easily using Paypal, for example.
“Will people actually pay me?” Most of them will not, no. But again, if you have lots of traffic and are an entertaining writer with raving funs who flock to your blog and hang on your every word and your content actually helps them, absolutely people will pay you. Again, another easy and painless way to make money blogging. It’s all free here guys because I love you (and it’s not my focus).

How to Make Money Blogging Tip #5 – Promote valuable affiliate products

If you are personally using products which you know are valuable to your readers, share these resources on your blog. Most readers will be grateful to receive a recommendation from a trusted resource, particularly if they know you are using the product yourself. Now most affiliate marketing programs typically pay anywhere from 20 to 75% commissions with a couple of recent exceptions including a blogging platform I am now leveraging for super-high search engine rankings which pays out 100% commissions, which you can read more about here. Again, it’s another revenue stream and if you know me well enough, you know after my past painful experience of only having one income stream, I strongly recommend everyone working hard to get several for peace of mind!
